BioMutant finally has a release date. THQ Nordic’s “post-apocalyptic kung fu fable” arrives on May 25, 2021 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
Originally scheduled for 2018, BioMutant is developed by Experiment 101, which former Avalanche Studios creative director Stefan Ljungqvist founded in 2015. THQ Nordic is the publisher of the game. Inside BioMutant, players can modify their character with bionic prostheses, powerful mutations and incredible weapons, which expand the game’s martial arts combat system.
We have a practical view on BioMutant at PAX West in 2018, just around the time the official Experiment 101 website for the game went silent. (He returned with a brief launch announcement on Tuesday.) The protagonist character designed by the player will assume a mix of animal characteristics according to the attributes that users give them. Inside BioMutantin the world, characters are not just adorable creatures; they are actually the marked survivors of a post-apocalyptic world.
“It’s great to slide down the legs of a great enemy and catch him from behind with a devastating combo,” wrote Mike Futter for Polygon in 2018. “Each weapon has its own style of play and a unique ‘super wushu’ attack that can be charged over time. “
Although playable on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 through backward compatibility, BioMutant has no planned version or enhancements for the new generation of consoles.
