Demi Lovato on ‘Hungry’ on NBC – New TV comedy about food issues

Demi Lovato is eyeing her first regular TV show since her days on the Disney Channel.

NBC has made a pilot commitment to Hungry, a single-camera comedy in which “friends who belong to a group of food issues help each other while looking for love, success and the perfect thing in the refrigerator that will make everything better ”, learned TVLine.

Lovato spoke openly about his own personal eating problems, including a lifelong struggle with bulimia, in previous interviews.

Besides starring HungryLovato is also an executive producer of the Universal Television comedy alongside writer Suzanne Martin; Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner for Hazy Mills; and Scooter Braun, James Shin and Scott Manson for SB projects.

Lovato started his career on the small screen in Barney and friends (2002-2004), before being featured on the Disney Channel short series How the bell rings (2007–2008). Disney gave Lovato his first regular TV role in 2009, casting her as Sonny With a ChanceThe title character, although Lovato’s abrupt departure from the series led to his cancellation in 2011. Before breaking up with House of Mouse, Lovato starred in several original Disney Channel films, including Camp Rock (2008), Princess Protection Program (2009) and Camp Rock 2 (2010).

Since then, Lovato has achieved memorable recurring roles on shows like Joy, who found her playing the brief love interest of Naya Rivera, Dani, and Will and grace, in which she played Will’s replacement, Jenny.
