If you’ve ever had an annoying (and perhaps private) Chrome notification while sharing your screen, you’re in luck – Chrome will now mute notifications by default when it detects that you’re sharing your screen. It should reach all accounts soon, but you can activate it manually now, if you wish.
The feature is very simple; it will simply hide the content of notifications received from Chrome and Google chat, if any, while you’re sharing your screen. Google has already turned off notifications when sharing a tab on Google Meet, but this will now work regardless of how you’re sharing your screen.
This is rolling out now and is expected to reach virtually all G Suite users in the next three days. If, however, you want to try it now, you can do it manually by turning it on flags (chrome: // flags / # mute-notifications-during-screen-share). Our Chrome resident expert Kent has had this flag enabled for a long time and had no problems with it.
