Among other things, Lindell claimed that the electronic voting machines Smartmatic and Dominion Voting Systems were part of a conspiracy to defraud the election against Trump. Following Dominion’s threat of prosecution, Lindell told the New York Times, “I would really like them to sue me because I have all the evidence against them.”
Lindell is known to be considering a possible candidacy for the Minnesota government in 2022. The ban on Twitter would complicate his efforts to reach voters.
Last year, Twitter maintained Laura Loomer’s permanent ban, even though she won the Republican primaries in a remote bid for Florida’s 21st congressional district. “The owner of the account you mentioned was permanently suspended for repeated violations of the Twitter Rules, and we do not plan to reverse this coercive action,” the company said in a statement at the time.
