Harvey Weinstein’s sexual misconduct agreement was reportedly approved by the judge who oversees his company’s bankruptcy.
The now-confirmed deal resolves most of the complaints from women who accused the former film mogul of sexual misconduct, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The agreement includes $ 17 million to be divided among the accusers for their claims of misconduct through a points system, while an additional $ 8.4 million will be included for bankruptcy claims unrelated to allegations of misconduct.
Nearly 40 women voted to accept the deal earlier this month, the vehicle reports.

Then, a sexual misconduct complaints examiner will review each complaint submitted, as well as documents and statements in support of the activity, in order to assign a “point award” that will be used to determine how much of the $ 17 million each accuser will receive .

Each accuser will have the opportunity to release all future claims against the ex-producer, if his complaint is allowed.
The accuser will receive full payment as soon as he agrees to release Weinstein, while those who do not choose to release him will receive only 25% of the predetermined amount offered to them. The rest will go to insurance companies.
Included in the deal is a mandatory perpetual release of claims against board members of The Weinstein Company, as well as the company itself.

The media reports that some accusers are opposed to the agreement and feel that those who offer rape charges should not be assessed at the same level as those who claim only harassment. In addition, the financial penalty for not releasing claims – as well as the mandatory release of claims against third parties – has also been strongly contested by some.
Lawyer Genie Harrison represents five accusers and said her clients “have no doubts” that the deal is fair, according to the vehicle.

“This is not a difficult decision for us,” she said. “My clients see this as a no-brainer.”
US bankruptcy judge Mary F. Walrath agreed on Monday.

“I’m not going to go into an analysis to find out if a victim’s claim is more valid or more valuable than another,” she said. “All the victims of Harvey Weinstein have been victimized and deserve to have a say in confirming the plan. If they decide not to release Mr. Weinstein, they have the right to have a jury trial.

They added: “83 percent of victims have expressed out loud that they want closure through the acceptance of this plan.”
Weinstein’s lawyer did not immediately respond to Fox News’s request for comment.
