If you regularly visit Twitter, you probably have noticed people asking for Clubhouse invitations. The audio-only social media app has gained a lot of momentum recently and has managed to create some substantial hype around its invite-only model. Another factor that contributes to this is its availability being limited to iOS users only. After a new round of funding, the app’s creators confirmed that they will finally work on an Android edition.
There is no information on when we can expect to arrive, but the developers say work on the app will begin “soon”. Along with support for Android, the team also confirmed that work is underway to add more accessibility and location features. Monetization for creators is also underway, and the Clubhouse plans to test it using features like tips, tickets and subscriptions.
If you don’t know the Clubhouse, it is an audio-only social platform that allows you to enter chat rooms and talk to other people or simply listen to the conversation in progress. Twitter is also working on a similar concept, with this experience incorporated directly into the existing application.
