Times change, people change and things evolve. This is how things happen. And when it comes to the Deshaun Watson saga, the evolution of what appears to be a nebulous situation may be becoming clearer.
To be clear, I don’t think we’re closer to a conclusion for today’s drama than we were yesterday. But reading this tweet was revealing:
If the Texans end up switching from Watson, it must be with the Jets for the choices of the first and second rounds this year and the next and Quinnen Williams. At least. And use the second overall Jets choice in the second best QB to replace Watson.

On the surface, it doesn’t look like much. He is a former Texan beat writer who offers a hypothetical exchange proposal in which Houston sends Watson to the Jets. At its most simplistic level, it is the outline of what might look like a viable exchange that could make both sides happy. But there is always more under the surface. And James Palmer of the NFL Network gets it right when tweets: “When the guy who covers the team better than anyone else leaves ANY MARKETED WAY Deshaun Watson! … for … here’s what the #texans should do if they change Watson, that means something. “
In other words, it means it’s time to fasten your belt. Especially after reports that Watson wants to be traded regardless of who is training Houston in 2021. So, while the Super Bowl is coming, all other conversations in football will surround Watson’s future (as well as those of the other potentially available quarterbacks in this off-season. ).
