The latest Nintendo Switch ad, featuring Canadian actress Annie Murphy, was published today on Nintendo’s YouTube channel. Having published some ads recently featuring various celebrities and actresses, such as Kyary Pamyu Pamyu for Japan and Brie Larson for the United States, it appears that Nintendo sought out Murphy after the huge success of Schitt’s Creek, in which she downplayed. the lucky socialite, Alexis Rose.
In the ad, Murphy plays Ring Fit Adventure, Clubhouse Games, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Just Dance 2021 – and notably does not use Nintendo’s voice chat service to play with friends.
But many people in the comments (and in our inbox!) Were more concerned with the end of the video, where the following screen appears:
Considering that the price on Nintendo’s website was the $ 300 Switch and the $ 200 Switch Lite, the concern seemed appropriate. Nintendo just raised the price by a hundred dollars ?!
Fortunately, this is not the case. It appears that prices are in Canadian dollars, which are currently worth $ 0.78 in US dollars – which makes the price of 400 CAD approximately equivalent to 314 USD. So yes, Switches it is more expensive, but only in Canada, and not much.
Although the ad does not claim that the dollar price is Canadian, the video description leads to the Nintendo Canada website, Facebook page and Twitter profile – and, after all, Annie Murphy is Canadian. Is it really Nintendo’s fault that the two coins use exactly the same symbol?
