It all started on Friday night, according to downdetector.com, a website and application monitoring service.
On Saturday morning, it looked like the problem had been solved.
“We are investigating reports that some people are having to log in again to access their Facebook accounts,” the company said in a statement. “We believe that this was due to a change in the configuration and we are working to get things back to normal as soon as possible.”
The mass logout was quickly followed by user memes, as well as some conspiracy theories.
As users returned to the social giant, it didn’t take long for Senator Bernie Sanders to appear while people wondered what exactly had happened. Sanders memes continued the trend over the weekend and only seemed to increase in popularity due in part to logging out.
