Larry King’s children talked about the devastation of losing their “incredible father” to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are heartbroken by the death of our father and, together with our extended family, we mourn his death,” Larry King, Jr., Chance King and Cannon King said in a joint statement on Saturday, hours after the death.
“The world knew Larry King as a great announcer and interviewer, but to us he was a ‘father’,” said the trio, King’s remaining children after losing two last year.
“He was the man who was lovingly obsessed with our daily schedules and well-being, and who prided himself on our achievements – big, small or imaginary”, they wrote.
“And despite everything, we knew without a doubt in the world that he loved us more than life itself.
“He was an incredible father and fiercely loyal to those who are lucky enough to call him a friend. We will miss you every day of our lives, ”said the trio of children.
“The show of love and the memories of his remarkable career touched us deeply and we are very grateful,” they said, asking for donations to the American Heart Association or the Beverly Hills EMS Fire Department instead of flowers.
They signed the statement “with deep thanks”.
The former CNN star died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The cause of death was coronavirus, his sixth wife Julia Alexander confirmed to The Post in a telephone interview from his home in Florida.
His death came just a few months after he lost his son Andy and daughter Chaia, who died 23 days apart.
Her remaining eldest son, Larry King Jr., 59, was with Annette Kaye, the second of the legendary journalist’s seven wives.
Cannon, 20, and Chance, 21, were both with his wife Shawn Southwick King, with whom he was still married at the time of his death, despite having filed for divorce and separated again in 2019.
