Disney + needs to bring back some SHIELD character agents

SHIELD agents may have ended in 2020, but that won’t stop this superfan from writing about it until 2021 and beyond. As long as the higher powers here at ComicBook.com allow me, I’m going to animate SHIELD agents and your characters until I die (or no longer work here, whichever comes first). Now this WandaVision debuted at Disney +, an exciting new era in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has begun. We are about to get a highly anticipated series of series, like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki with more programs like Hawkeye currently in production. While SHIELD agents had the perfect farewell, I am firmly convinced that some of the characters in the series deserve to appear on Disney + again.

Before we begin, we must note that this is not a canonical debate. As long as I maintain the fact that SHIELD agents is the MCU canon and will base some of my arguments around that fact, not really care. We’re supposed to get Charlie Cox’s Daredevil next Spider man James D’Arcy’s film and Jarvis’s Agent Carter already appeared in Avengers: Endgame. Why can’t SHIELD agents staff have the same privilege? Especially considering that it is the only Marvel show that has had a complete and complete season.

It should also be mentioned that the last episode of WandaVision featured a commercial for a soap opera called “Hydra Soak”, which seemed a direct reference to Agents of SHIELDFramework arc. For now, I refuse to believe that this was just a coincidence. What if WandaVision is referencing Agents of SHIELD, my hopes are growing that Disney + can incorporate some of the characters.

Be warned, I am not including Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) and Leopold Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) in this list. As much as I love them and want to see more of Henstridge and De Caestecker on my television screen, I think their characters deserve a happy ending in retirement. Forgive me, my fellow FitzSimmons lovers! However, here are some others SHIELD agents characters I want to see on Disney + …

Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet)

Of all the SHIELD agents characters, bringing back Daisy Johnson, aka Quake, makes more sense. Not only is this incredible Inhuman a big part of the comics, but the last time we saw her leading a team in space (by the way, let’s bring Daniel Sousa (Enver Gjokaj) and Kora (Dianne Doan) back too!).

While SHIELD agents I couldn’t use the title SWORD (we are still laughing at “Astro Ambassadors”), it is very clear that Daisy, her man and her sister are in space doing SWORDly functions. We already know that SWORD is coming into play in WandaVision, and we also know that a Secret Invasion the series is coming to Disney + starring Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Ben Mendelsohn (Talos). Nick Fury is in space. Daisy is in space. Let them meet!

Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie (Henry Simmons)

At the SHIELD agents In the end, we learn that Mack kept his job as director of SHIELD. We know that SHIELD is returning to the game in Hawkeye, and it would be really cool if Mack managed to officially keep his title at the MCU. We still don’t know what Nick Fury is doing in space, but we have a feeling that his current focus is on SWORD, especially since Talos and Soren (Sharon Blynn) are still posing as Fury and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) on Earth. In addition, Mack has his own helicarrier! Let the man use it!

Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen)

Speaking of SHIELD and Hawkeye, Wen has already made it clear that he would love to appear on the Disney + series. Agent Melinda May is one of the toughest people who ever wore the SHIELD logo and we saw her last teaching at the Coulson Academy. It would be incredible to see more of the Academy in general (“Seeds” is an underrated episode from the first season that shows a closer look at the agents in training. I always wanted to see more of the young talents). Wen may be busy playing Fennec Shand in the Star Wars world, but they could AT LEAST spare us a cameo. There is no way that May and Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) have not crossed paths before. He could use it!

Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez (Natalia Córdova-Buckley)

Speaking of extremely talented Inhumans who are also comic book characters, we last saw Yo-Yo still working for SHIELD in the field with Agent Piper (Briana Venskus) and Agent LMD Davis (Maximilian Osinski). Like Mack and May, Hawkeye makes more sense with the SHIELD connection, but Secret Invasion it can also be a great place to showcase Elena’s special skills. Heck, put it on She-Hulk or Mrs. Marvel… There is no reason for Yo-Yo not to join the fight on any Disney + program.

Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse (Adrianne Palicki)

We all know that Palicki and Nick Blood (Lance Hunter) got the wrong deal when they left SHIELD agents for your own spin-off, Marvel’s most wanted. The show never aired and Palicki was never seen again as Bobbi (however, we had a delicious last episode with Blood as Hunter). Mockingbird is another staple of Marvel Comics, and fans have made it clear that they want to see more of it in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again … Secret Invasion it’s WELL THERE!

Deke Shaw (Jeff Ward)

I am 100% willing to admit that this choice is totally partial due to my blatant love for Deke Shaw. Does this request really make sense? Arguable! We last saw Deke in the 1980s in an alternate reality as a rock god and the head of SHIELD (honestly, this is an entire show that I would watch alone). Deke had a perfect ending, but I’m greedy and I want more!

It’s pretty obvious that the MCU is about to become serious with the multiverse with films like Spider-Man 3 and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Not to mention the fact that Loki is following the version of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) who escaped in Avengers: Endgame, creating yet another new reality. I would give anything to see Loki go through a Deke Squad show on his interdimensional journeys.

Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg)

This is a much more realistic request, as I don’t think anyone is ready to see Gregg’s days at the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It has existed since 2008 Iron Man, and it was time for the Avengers to discover that he was still alive (well, more or less). However, if you are adamant about keeping Coulson dead as a canon (rude!), I will once again mention Loki.

With the God of Mischief getting ready for his last round of mischief, it would make a lot of sense to see him come face to face with the man he once murdered. Loki has done many unforgivable things over the years, but killing Coulson was definitely number one.

Are you waiting to see some SHIELD agents characters from a Disney + series? Which are? Tell us your opinion in the comments!

All seven seasons of SHIELD agents are streaming on Netflix.
