Before UFC 257: Poirier vs. McGregor 2 on Saturday, Eminem released his new music video for “Higher”, a track outside the recent rapper Music to be murdered – side B.
In the video “Higher”, Eminem is cast as a fighter who prepares for the battle against his own demons, with the UFC world as a backdrop for the action. The video also features cameos from UFC boss Dana White and ESPN’s Michael Eaves during a mock interview before Eminem’s big fight.
The video premiered during the ESPN pre-show for the mixed martial arts event, broadcast live on Saturday from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where the UFC has run a series of its PPV programs since the first coronavirus pandemic in March 2020. The main event features Conor McGregor faced Dustin Poirier in a rematch of the 2014 fight, which McGregor won by technical knockout in the first round.
“It has always been amazing to be able to work with Eminem for promotional and programming content on various ESPN properties over the years,” said ESPN music director Kevin Wilson in a statement. “Being able to work on this video together with your team – not only presenting the great coverage of our team in the UFC, but also debuting it exclusively on ABC, is just invaluable.”
