When it comes to lap records, the Porsche Panamera Turbo S is one of the cars that made headlines last year. In addition to the questionable lap record for the Jaguar XE Project 8, the four-door Porsche smashed the lap record for the luxury class at the Nurburgring.
But that was short-lived, with the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S taking the title as the fastest luxury sedan on the ‘Ring. Again, this excludes the Jaguar XE Project 8 record, achieved without the rear seats.

Porsche then turned its attention to its North American home and local track: Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. It was a success, with the German brand winning the title of four-door sedan faster with a lap time of 1 minute and 31.51 seconds for the Panamera Turbo S.
Noteworthy, the Panamera Turbo S dethroned another Porsche four-door sedan on the 2.54-mile race track. The record was previously held by the Porsche Taycan Turbo S, which completed the lap in 1 minute and 33.88 seconds.
Driving the Panamera’s record lap time was PCNA professional race car driver Leh Keen, who was also the same driver behind Taycan’s success last year.
The 2021 Porsche Panamera Turbo S is due to arrive at dealerships in the United States in the spring of 2021. It will come from the factory with performance-oriented equipment such as Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV +), axle direction Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport (PDCC Sport) rear stabilization system.
The record-breaking version comes with optional and legal Michelin Pilot Sport cup 2 ND0 high-performance tires. The set was a newly developed sample, with the size 275/35 ZR 21 103Y XL in the front and 325/30 ZR 21 108Y XL in the rear.
