It has been suggested that Texas quarterback Deshaun Watson wants to play for the Dolphins. Allegedly, there is another team in AFC East that is even higher in its survey.
Armando Salguero do Miami Herald reports that Watson’s No. 1 choice is the Jets.
“Watson this week told people that the Jets are his main preference among the teams he would like to be negotiated with because they have hired Robert Saleh to coach him and Watson values Saleh so much that he wanted the Texans to interview him as their coach main job vacant ”, writes Salguero.
The PFT reported last Saturday that, in fact, Watson recommended that Texans interview Saleh and that Texans ignore the suggestion. (The Texans offered to accept Watson’s opinion about hiring the coach.)
Dolphins land second on Watson’s list of preferences, according to Salguero.
Miami currently has the best squad, but the Jets are trying to form a competitive team. The challenge now is to maintain progress towards a competitor and, at the same time, give up everything necessary to obtain Watson.
The Jets have an extra choice in the first round this year and the next, thanks to the replacement of Jamal Adams. New York also holds the second overall choice in the 2021 draft.
Watson has not yet asked the Texans for an exchange. It is not known whether Texans would agree to such a request.
