MADISON, Wisconsin – Wisconsin’s seven-day positivity rate for new cases of COVID-19 has steadily declined since the beginning of January.
Both the seven-day positivity rate for new tests per person and the seven-day equivalent for total tests per day have seen a steady decline since January 5. The seven-day positivity rate for new tests per person fell seven-tenths of a percentage point, while the seven-day equivalent for the total daily tests fell six-tenths of a percentage point, compared to Thursday’s numbers.
Although the rate of daily positivity is declining, hospitalizations are still in flux daily. Another 91 Wisconsin residents have been hospitalized in the past 24 hours, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. That is almost double the number of hospitalizations reported on Thursday.

A total of 56,680 Wisconsin residents have completed their COVID-19 vaccinations. That is just under 1% of the entire population of the state.

As vaccine distribution continues, state health officials are asking for patience, as vaccine demand far exceeds current supply.
