Rumors about Pierre-Luc Dubois trade are on the rise not long after John Tortorella’s defense of the talented center. Several reports indicate that a Dubois exchange may happen soon – possibly on Saturday morning – and the Anaheim Ducks, Montreal Canadiens and Winnipeg Jets were mentioned as pioneers.
As always, things can change. There may be a Pierre-Luc Dubois exchange earlier (perhaps in the early hours of the night), it may drag on or things may fall apart.
We’ll review Pierre-Luc Dubois’s trade rumors, through names like Elliotte Friedman from Sportsnet, Darren Dreger of TSNand Pierre LeBrun of Atlético / TSN.
Blue Jackets allegedly pursuing Dubois trade; Rumors summary
On Friday, Dreger ranked among those who circulated in the Saturday morning being a possible window for a Pierre-Luc Dubois trade. To little surprise, it looks like the Columbus Blue Jackets will make Dubois a healthy scratch – if he’s still on your list.
Friedman uses the phrase “aggressively chasing” a Dubois operation, which makes it even more likely.
Here are some details on Dubois’ possible trade scenarios, via Friedman:
Dubois – Laine is highlighted in potential Blue Jets – Jets trade?
As you can see in this recent post, just before the collapse of the reserve bank, a Laine – Dubois exchange would be a fun exchange of “problems” and main attractions.
Multiple anonymous sources told Friedman that a possible package would include Laine and Jack Roslovic, who is currently not signed by the Jets.
Many teams can be in the mix
Friedman also notes that the Ducks are increasing their offer for Dubois, although the details are sparse. LeBrun adds that the Ducks have been in the Dubois mix for a long time.
Meanwhile, hearing that the Anaheim Ducks are still testing Dubois as well. They have been in this from the beginning.

During Friday’s appearances, Dreger reported that certain teams were informed that they are out of the mix for an exchange.
Friedman reports that Nick Suzuki is not currently involved in Dubois’ trade talks involving the Habs, but also notes that this could change. (Switching Suzuki would be bold in Montreal and controversial. Marc Bergevin loves these types of moves … but still, it would be bold.)
It is difficult to say whether there is a true leader among these Dubois trade rumors. Still, there are several fascinating scenarios.
Laine – Dubois would be fascinating because they would not end these sagas, but would only apply a touch and a “To be continued …” Laine is only under contract for the 2020-21 season, while Dubois is only blocked until 2021- 22 plausible that Laine would not be thrilled to be with Columbus, and Dubois might conceivably want to leave Winnipeg, in the grand scheme of things.
To be continued …
In addition, PHT was already speculating about Tortorella headbanging with high offensive and low defense striker Max Domi. Just imagine Torts smoking in Laine?
But that would also be a lot of fun. Anyway, this is exciting. If you are a fan of the Blue Jackets, or someone who hopes that Dubois exchange rumors will end up being the reality of your team’s dreams, then it can be stressful.
Good luck hitting the right notes, Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen.
