Comedian Dave Chappelle tested positive for Covid-19 and canceled several shows at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater in Austin, Texas, a spokeswoman told the Associated Press.
The site’s website showed cancellations for four shows until Tuesday.
Chappelle, who has hosted socially distant programs in Ohio since June, with quick tests for the public and for himself, moved his programs to Austin over the winter, the spokeswoman said.
Chappelle is asymptomatic and quarantined, she said.
Joe Rogan, a comedian and podcast host who had performed with Chappelle on Friday and Saturday, apologized for the cancellations. “We will reschedule them as soon as we can,” Rogan said on Friday in an Instagram post.
The positive result of Chappelle’s test came about three months after he presented “Saturday Night Live” and commented on the pandemic in a monologue that also played a major role in the presidential election.
“Do you remember what life was like before Covid?” Mr. Chappelle said. “I do. There was a mass shootout every week. Does anyone remember that? Thank God for Covid. Someone had to lock up these white killers and keep them at home.”
