It took just 32 minutes for each consultation available at several coronavirus vaccination clinics in Riverside County – 3,900 in all – to be claimed Thursday, January 21, county spokesman Brooke Federico said.
Registration for the six clinics in Perris, Lago Elsinore and Indio – the first starts on Friday, January 22 – opened at noon on Thursday. The county allocated 3,900 doses of 26,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine received this week to clinics; the rest goes to private providers.
The county is offering vaccines for all levels of Phase 1A – health professionals and residents of long-term care facilities – and the first level of Phase 1B, which includes residents 65 and older.
Residents eligible for a vaccine expressed frustration with the county’s enrollment program, as officials deal with the huge demand for a limited amount of vaccine. On Twitter, Dr. Cameron Kaiser, a county public health officer, noted the public’s difficulty accessing the consultation website.
We are aware that some of our residents are having difficulty accessing vaccination appointments on our website. Our IT team is addressing the issue. Continue updating your screen. #RivCoNOW #RUHealth
