Tesla Motors, Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA) – Tesla takes control: battery manufacturing is shown almost fully automated in the teaser video

Earlier this week, Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) video released from within its new battery cell factory, which the company talked about during the battery and investor day. The video showed many impressive machines that produce hundreds or thousands of battery cells, the current limiting factor in Tesla’s supply chain.

As covered by Teslarati, there may be some interesting details to be found in the video. While Tesla is working to make its own battery cells, it is still buying from partners and reducing battery prices.

The video shows that Tesla’s battery factory is highly automated. CEO Elon Musk spoke in the past about a fully automated factory to build the Model 3, requiring little or no human interaction. This dream came true when Musk realized that humans were very important. But this battery factory appears to be approaching Musk’s initial vision.

Tesla’s 4680 battery recently leaked, and these are the cells that will go into that package. It appears that battery cells are being created, classified and stored in clean rooms, with all of these processes being automated. When compared to typical battery production plants, there are far fewer human workers to be seen in Tesla’s video. These advances can help lower battery and vehicle prices, while easing some of Tesla’s supply restrictions.
