With the help of federal authorities, the UFC is ready to hammer the hammer on anyone who might have plans to host an illegal broadcast of UFC 257.
UFC President Dana White messed with social media earlier this month when he threatened an Instagram user who commented in one of White’s posts that he couldn’t wait to hack Saturday’s pay-per-view headed by Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirer. Afterwards, White bent over and said that he “looked forward to the crying and requests” of the people who were caught.
Now, just two days away from UFC 257, White says he has someone in his sights.
“We have one. We caught him, ”White said during the UFC 257 press conference on Thursday. “We are watching this guy now. All you have to do is turn it on on Saturday and we’ll get it, f * cker. I can not wait. Call streamers on Saturday and see what happens. “
At the time, it was not clear what those words were. At the end of the day, White elaborated during an interview with BT Sport.
“When I said that (earlier this month), all these guys started insulting me. So I went and chose. I told you. You are the man. ‘And I said to my people,’ I want this guy. ‘ And guess what? We got him, ”said White, adding that the person in question is not an American. “We are watching his house, listening to his phone conversations and if he calls on Saturday, we get him.”
A senior UFC official with knowledge of the situation told MMA Junkie that the promotion has been working with federal authorities to catch the alleged illegal streaming host. The director, familiar with the UFC’s thinking, indicated that the promotion seeks to make this character an example.
A federal COVID relief bill, which was passed by Congress in late December, included anti-piracy legislation – the Law on Protection of the Legal Flow – which states that offenders can be prosecuted and face up to 10 years in prison for various crimes.
Armed with that, White is ready to attack the suspected illegal streaming in question.
“(If) he opens this link on Saturday, we get him, and we’re going to arrest him, and I’m going to sue him,” said White. “I won’t be nice. I will not give him any mercy of any kind. I’m going to shoot * ckin’-blazing on this guy. “
UFC 257 takes place Saturday at Etihad Arena on “Ilha da Luta”. The main card is transmitted on ESPN + pay-per-view followed by preliminaries on ESPN and ESPN +.
