Showtime chose Michelle Pfeiffer to star as Betty Ford in their next anthology series, “The First Lady”.
Pfeiffer joins the previously announced Viola Davis (playing Michelle Obama) for the show, which focuses on the duo, along with Eleanor Roosevelt, and “the roles they played in defining impactful decisions and, at times, worldwide change during their time at the White House, “according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Roosevelt’s share has not yet been announced.
Emmy-winning director Susanne Bier – “The Undoing” and “The Night Manager” – signed on to direct all episodes, as well as executive produce.

According to Pfeiffer’s IMDb, “The First Lady” will be his first regular TV series since “Delta House” and “BAD Cats” early in his career. She most recently appeared in films like “French Exit” and “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil”.
