More than a hundred people gathered at the Colorado State Capitol to mark the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday.
Several minority groups applauding as one of their own have become vice presidents.
Keith Hodson opened a bottle of champagne. He is a supporter of Joe Biden.
“I was here with three (bottles) when he won the election. I thought one was good enough today,” he said.
Robin Burgess and his family were also in a mood for celebration.
“Our initial plan was to go to Washington DC and be a part of this royal opening,” she said.
But the COVID -19 pandemic ended those plans, so they decided to celebrate at the Colorado Capitol.
Burgess told Denver7 that Kamala Harris being elected vice-president is a “big deal” for her children, who are biracial.
“Mostly, my daughter,” she said. “She really admires her, so we made the shirt because her vice president looks like her now.”

Gnojek said that he usually tries to walk the fine line, putting his heart before a red or blue badge, but “January 6 changed that a little bit. It wasn’t about the (political) sides, but about being on the side of democracy.”
Police said two protesters were arrested Wednesday morning in Cheesman Park for gun violations.
