Watch Bruce Springsteen’s performance in “Land of Hope and Dreams” at Biden’s opening event

Bruce Springsteen helped celebrate Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s Inauguration Day celebration tonight (January 20) with a presentation of “Land of Hope and Dreams” at the Lincoln Memorial. Springsteen opened the evening’s Celebrating America event, which is hosted by Tom Hanks. Watch Springsteen play the solo song on the guitar below.

Biden’s Celebrating America opening event also featured performances by Justin Timberlake and Ant Clemons, Foo Fighters, John Legend and more. The oath ceremony earlier in the day featured performances by Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez and Garth Brooks. New Radicals gathered in the virtual parade to present “You Get What You Give”. Katy Perry ended the night with her hit “Firework”.

Springsteen has been part of Biden’s campaign since the 2020 Democratic National Convention, when he appeared on campaign promotions that were accompanied by songs by The Rising. He also narrated one of Biden’s campaign ads just before election day. Springsteen had previously held an Inauguration Day event for Barack Obama and was awarded the Obama Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016.

Last year, Springsteen and E Street Band launched Letter to you, which was named one of Pitchfork’s “35 Best Rock Albums of 2020”. Read Pitchfork’s Sunday review of Nebraska.
