Weis Markets has announced that it will begin administering COVID-19 vaccines in 55 of its pharmacies in stores across Pennsylvania starting on Thursday.
According to guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Weis pharmacy staff will prioritize individuals 65 and older for COVID-19 immunizations, according to a press release.
Weis pharmacies will also prioritize COVID-19 immunizations for people aged 16 to 64 with high-risk conditions, including cancer, chronic kidney disease, smoking, COPD, heart disease, Down syndrome, obesity and diabetes, the statement said, adding:
To receive the vaccine, customers must schedule an appointment with a Weis-certified immunizer at: https://www.weismarkets.com/pharmacy-services. Registration for consultations is available the day before immunization and it is necessary to cover the face. To ensure the vaccine’s effectiveness, Weis pharmacies will schedule customers for a second immunization four weeks after the first injection.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health guidelines, we are prioritizing individuals aged 65 and over and those with high-risk conditions for immunization visits, ”said Rick Seipp, vice president of pharmacy at Weis Markets. “Over time, we hope to expand to other priority categories as the vaccine becomes more available and in coordination with the British Commonwealth guidelines. We are ready to help. “
Immunizations are available at Weis pharmacies throughout Pennsylvania, including Allentown, Altoona, Harrisburg, York, Lancaster, Northeastern PA, Southeastern PA, Lycoming County, Sunbury, Selinsgrove and Lewisburg.
