
, Ridley was one of the longtime archenemies of bounty hunter Samus Aran throughout the series, appearing in many subsequent games and even becoming a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate after being one of the most requested characters for years. But this LEGO creation may be one of Ridley’s coolest iterations to date.
The L-DI-EGO user project actually started in May 2020, but received a steady stream of updates as more supporters supported the project, including various styles of Samus helmets, space pirate variants and an alternative hunting variant of the Hunter class seen in the Metroid Prime series.
LEGO Ideas is a website where master builders can submit their ideas and if 10,000 people support the project, it will be analyzed by a panel of LEGO experts and potentially transformed into a real set. At any given time, there can be hundreds of pop culture-inspired entries that fans have created.
One of the most popular LEGO ideas that gained momentum recently and became an official set was the Central Perk set with a Friends theme, which was launched in 2019 to celebrate Friends’ 25th anniversary.
Merely gaining 10,000 followers does not guarantee that an official set will be produced, however. A LEGO Ideas creation featuring a small diorama from the Untitled Goose Game got the necessary sponsors, but ended up being passed on by the LEGO Company after the review.
Nintendo surprised many when it announced last year a series of interactive Super Mario themed game sets. A new batch of LEGO Super Mario expansion sets has been announced recently, scheduled for release this year and will include Chain Chomps, Wigglers, a Tanooki suit and more.Many longtime Nintendo fans were delighted to receive an official LEGO game set with a NES complete with Super Mario Bros. controller and cartridge. along with a “playable” retro style TV that launched last year as well.
