Kentucky Basketball: John Calipari shoots fans and the media after losing to the Georgia Bulldogs

We saw for the first time tonight something that we haven’t really seen in the last 12 years of the John Calipari era, an insanely frustrated press conference.

Apparently known as a wizard when it comes to standing behind a microphone, it seems that this ability has completely disappeared.

After a last-second loss to the Georgia Bulldogs, Calipari vented in the postseason interviews that he may regret.

Fans across Bluegrass have made their thoughts and opinions known this season. Well, folks, Cal heard them and at least made it sound like he was bothering him.

The first part of this quote is the most interesting. You can only imagine that he is referring to the big change that all the fans demanded, which was taking BJ Boston off the starting lineup. But whatever he is referring to, it doesn’t seem to be going very well for him.

It is no secret that this was probably one of the worst years as a coach for Calipari in his career in the Hall of Fame.

Should any part of this be attributed to the restrictions that COVID-19 imposed on the season and the off-season? Absolutely.

Did he have trouble figuring out what adjustments he needs to make to fix this team? For sure.

There have been no good looks for Cal this season, but calling on fans and the media is definitely not going to help anything to get everyone together around this team.

“You can see my frustration now, but I am the coach, I have a job to do and I need to find ways to win games.”

We can only hope that he will find a way, because things got too bleak at an incredible rate for the Kentucky Wildcats.
