Gone! 900 appointments scheduled for Covid vaccine Thursday at Oncenter in Syracuse

Updated at 5:00 pm: All appointments were canceled in one hour, according to the county website

Syracuse, NY – In less than an hour, people got 990 difficult-to-receive appointments for a first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, made available today by Onondaga County. The photos will be given Thursday at the Oncenter, in the center of Syracuse.

County executive Ryan McMahon tweeted around 4 pm that consultations were available. Before 5 pm, they were all gone.

The county received 900 vials of Modern vaccine today, just a quarter of what it had received in previous weeks. From the 900 vials, the county can deliver 990 doses of the vaccine, McMahon said.

Consultations are going fast, given the shortage of vaccine supplies this week in central New York.

McMahon tweeted that the slots were available shortly after 4 pm. Twenty minutes later, only half of the 990 slots remained. At around 4:48 pm, no commitments were left, according to the website.

When more vaccines are available, consultations can be scheduled online at the county’s vaccines page. The elderly or others who are unable to surf online can call 211.
