Tim McGraw admits he was “a little apprehensive” about Taylor Swift naming his debut single in 2006 in honor of him

In 2006, Taylor Swift gave his name to his debut as a single.

And Tim McGraw opened up about being the inspiration for Swift’s success, almost 15 years after its release, in a recent interview with Apple Music.

Although the 53-year-old country singer was impressed by the music, he admitted that he was’ a little apprehensive when [he] heard it for the first time. ‘

‘So I thought, did I reach that age now when they sing songs about me? Does that mean I jumped a little bit on the shark? Is everything still okay? ‘recalled McGraw.

Tim’s insecurities were quickly crushed after he learned that Taylor had written the heartbreaking ball when she was in seventh grade, proving its relevance.

‘And then I realized that someone had told me that she was in her 7th grade math class when she wrote the song, so it made me feel a little better about it, because she was very young writing.

‘So I didn’t feel so old …’ joked McGraw, who has since performed with Swift on several occasions.

‘It was just her and her guitar and someone else. Just two people, she and another guy playing, ‘he recalled the songwriting session, adding that he is’ a huge Taylor fan’.

‘I think she has a unique way of connecting with her audience and her writing skills and intuition are just incredible.

“And I just think that she is one of the greatest artists that has emerged in a long time,” he gushed.
