Saved by the Bell is renewed for a second season on NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service

Students will return for another semester at their beloved Bayside High.

And NBCUniversal’s streaming service, Peacock, confirmed that a second season was underway for Saved by the Bell, according to Variety.

The reboot of the classic ’90s teen sitcom is Peacock’s # 1 show, and it also holds the title as the first original series on the new network to be renewed.

Created by Tracey Wigfield, the show follows a group of diverse teenagers growing up in a high school.

The new show stars Mitchell Hoog, Belmont Cameli, Josie Totah, Haskiri Velazquez, Alycia Pascual-Peña’s, Dexter Darden and John Michael Higgins.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s character, Zack Morris, now serves as governor of California and has closed several low-income schools, which forces Bayside High to accept students from working-class families.

Dustin Diamond, also known as Screech, and Dennis Haskins, who played the main Belding, were the only two main characters who did not return to the reboot.

“I am thrilled with the renewal of Saved by the Bell,” said Wigfield in a statement. ‘I was delighted with all the love for the show and I can’t wait to go back and do more episodes.

‘Hopefully we will stay at Peacock for many more seasons, and then in 30 years, someone will restart our reboot and invent threeboot.’
