ARBUTUS, Md. (WJZ) – One person died after an accident with several vehicles in Baltimore County on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Maryland State Police.
The victim was identified as Luke Souders, 30, of Catonsville.
The Maryland State Police responded shortly after 3 pm in the I-95 area heading north, before exit 49A, I-695, due to an accident with several vehicles.
According to the Maryland State Police, Dylan Shields, 29, of Halethorpe was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado. Investigators believe that Shields was traveling north on I-95 when he hit Souders in the back.
Investigators believe the accident caused a chain reaction, resulting in the involvement of two additional vehicles, a Kia Forte and a Volkswagen GTI.
Shields refused medical treatment at the scene. The charges await the outcome of the investigation.
The Kia Forte was operated by Melinda Moore, 52, of Gywnn Oak. The Volkswagen GTI was operated by Patrick Cavanaugh, 42, of Stewartstown, Pennsylvania. Cavanaugh was taken by ambulance to the Shock Trauma Center. Moore refused medical treatment on the spot.
The investigation into this accident is still ongoing.
