Kenny Omega is no longer the only AEW star to switch to Impact. Add Matt Hardy and Private Party to the list.
It all started with Hardy and Private Party posting an announcement that they would appear on the Impact Wrestling (January 19, 2021).
Their business revolved around the Impact World Tag Team Championship. Chris Sabin brought James Storm to declare himself as # 1 candidate for the Good Brothers, and that’s when Hardy and Private Party appeared.
Hardy intended to reserve the Private Party for a warm-up match, so he could win 260% of the payday. Hardy wanted to skip the title line against the Good Brothers. Instead, it led to a fight against Sabin & Storm in the main event to win a tag team championship opportunity. It is interesting to note that Hardy did not allow Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy to speak.
Also of note, Tony Khan returned with another paid commercial. He was with Jerry Lynn in the Impact Zone. Khan asked Hardy to go to Impact as a response to Don Callis’ antics. He wanted Hardy to get over Impact.
Khan and Lynn actually showed up next to the ring to explore the main event.
In that match, Private Party won with Gin and Juice. Hardy provided the referee with a distraction so that Lynn could grab Sabin’s foot when preparing the submission maneuver.
Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows applauded Private Party’s efforts. The Good Brothers entered the ring for a fixed look, so the show ended with a fight between the three teams.
There has been no announcement of a date yet for the big fight between Private Party and the Good Brothers for Impact tag team gold.
As for Kenny Omega and Don Callis, they will have a hiatus from Impact to take care of business at AEW.
This plan fits with the next PPV schedule for AEW’s Revolution on February 27 and at Impact’s Rebellion on April 24th.
What is your opinion on the next chapter of AEW with Impact? Do you like Private Party getting the call to act on Impact Wrestling?
