Gmail is one of the most used products from Google, which means that the company likes to make many integrations with its other tools. Last year, a redesigned interface was shown to G Suite customers with support for the Chat and Rooms sections in the sidebar. Google is now releasing an update that allows users to resize these sections to suit their needs.

The company says this will make it easier to keep track of your most important conversations and navigate to chats faster than before. Chat and Rooms sections can be resized by clicking and dragging on the section header to make it taller or shorter, depending on your preferences.

While this does not represent a major revolution, it is a useful addition to have. According to Google, the resizable sidebar sections will launch in the coming days for Google Workspace Essentials, Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus, as well as G Suite Basic, Business, Education, Enterprise for Education and customers of nonprofit organizations.

Since regular Gmail accounts do not yet have access to chat and rooms, this will not affect these users – although that may change in the near future, as chat begins to completely replace Hangouts.
