Fallout: New Vegas 2 was brought on by a longtime insider from Valve.
Tyler McVicker, who used to use his name on the YouTuber on the Valve News Network, says he has “a lot of information” about a Fallout: New Vegas sequel. In a recent video discussing how it will expand its scope to include more developers going forward, McVicker sparked a report on what would be a supposed Fallout: New Vegas 2.
In a section of the video below starting at 3:56, McVicker says he has information on a number of projects, including Switch Pro, Nintendo’s plans for Mario and Zelda’s upcoming birthdays, Avowed and Back for Blood. He continues, however, stating that he also has “a lot of information about Fallout 76, Starfield and Deathloop”, as well as about the aforementioned Fallout: New Vegas 2.
It is not 100% clear what McVicker is referring to, since the two times he mentions the possible sequence, he seems to use the subtitle ‘The Frontier’, which happens to be also the name of a recently released mod for Fallout: New Vegas. In a follow-up tweet, however, McVicker once again makes reference to a sequence, stating that “I expect FNV2 in the second half of this decade.”
Although McVicker has established himself as a reliable source when it comes to reporting on Valve in recent years, there has still been no word from Bethesda or Obsidian suggesting that any of the developers are working on a sequel to the 2010 spin-off of Fallout 3. Legally, Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda could pave the way for an obsidian return to Mojave Wasteland, albeit with the New Vegas studio currently working on Grounded, Avowed and a reported sequel to The Outer Worlds, a new Fallout o game would probably be long gone.
