Ingram owed $ 5 million the following year, the last of his contract.
News of Ingram’s imminent launch comes the same day the team announced the launch of veteran backup quarterback Robert Griffin III.
After an excellent eight-year tenure with the New Orleans Saints, in which he collected a pair of Pro Bowl bids and two 1,000-yard campaigns, Ingram signed a three-year contract with Ravens before the 2019 season. The contract included an opt-out for 2021.
Ingram’s 1,018 yards in 2019 came in second on the team, behind quarterback Lamar Jackson and helped powerfully in Baltimore by setting a regular season record for running yards.
Baltimore was once again the leader of the NFL in the field in 2020, but Ingram’s role has greatly diminished. He was inactive in the team’s defeat at the end of the season to the Bills, along with the opening playoff victory over the Titans. His last game was in Week 17, in which he had 39 yards in nine races after being inactive for the previous two weeks. He had only 299 yards in 72 shipments for the season, while Jackson once again led the way and newcomers JK Dobbins and Gus Edwards each finished more than 700 yards in a row.
The choice of the first round of 2011 and ex-Pro Bowler three times may well still have life in his legs, since the Ravens were a crowded backfield, the best in the league in terms of production.
So far, Ingram’s legs have led him to 7,324 career yards and 62 touchdowns. We’ll see where they’ll take you next.
