Designer Tommy Hilfiger sold his luxury property in Greenwich for $ 45 million, just months after listing the 22-acre property amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The large French Normandy-style residence was purchased by Hilfiger and his wife, former model Dee Ocleppo, in 2010 for $ 31.3 million, the Wall Street Journal reported.
According to Business Insider, the six-bedroom property was listed by Sotheby’s International Realty and sold for about $ 2.7 million less than the original asking price. A deal to buy the property was struck in November – four weeks after it was listed. However, the sale price was not disclosed at the time.
The buyer of Hilfiger’s property, whose identity is being kept anonymous, was represented by Sally Slater, of Douglas Elliman.

Impressive: the property’s main house dates back to 1939 and has French towers that add a palatial touch

The property also has decorative water fountains and there is a swimming pool to cool off on a hot summer day.

Tommy Hilfiger and his wife, Dee Ocleppo (photographed together in 2019), are planning to buy a home in Palm Beach, Florida
Hilfiger, who repaired and sold seven homes in the thriving city in the past 35 years, sold the house during a time when New Yorkers fleeing the COVID-19 pandemic are raising property values in Greenwich.
“I heard from my friends in the real estate market that the market is very strong, and it hasn’t been for years,” he told the Journal last year.
While waiting for a buyer, Hilfiger and his wife were looking for a new home in Palm Beach, Florida.
Hilfiger said they have been considering the move for a long time, but COVID-19 has accelerated its schedule.
And although the pandemic is partly responsible for the couple’s change, Hilfiger said it is not the only reason.
“As creative people, we are always looking for the next project,” he told the Journal.

The huge property also has a guest house, according to Sotheby’s list

Movie nights: although the mansion is over 80 years old, it has the modern touch of a home theater

Occlepo, a stylist on her own merits, described being at home as if they were in the “countryside of England” when speaking to Architectural Digest in 2017

Nothing unchanged: in the same interview, the husband revealed that the renovations were so extensive that they went down to ‘all knobs’ of the mansion

Workout: the house currently has a gym with plenty of space for any desired equipment
The house, which was built in 1939 for real estate investor Charles Vincent Paterno, sits at the top of Round Hill Road. It was built by the famous architect Greville Rickard.
According to the Journal, the residence also belonged to financier and prolific art collector Joseph Hirshhorn.
Hilfiger said he and his wife spent three years working on the house after it fell into disrepair.
He told the newspaper that they redone the mechanics and wiring of the house. They also added new plumbing and ventilation.
Hilfiger said he even hired a company in Turkey to manufacture the terracotta tiles to match the originals and hired landscape architect Miranda Brooks to design the gardens, hedges and fountains.
The couple spent millions on the project, which Hilfiger said “requires a lot of patience.”

Activities: you can relax by the fireplace or play a game of pool in the same room
The house has six bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and three half baths. It also has an exhibition room with hand-painted fabric walls that was inspired by Hilfiger’s Turkish heritage.
An 18th century French fireplace was installed in the family room and there is also a wine cellar and tasting room.
The residence also includes a guest house equipped with a kitchen, two bedrooms and a separate garage.
Meanwhile, external resources are far from shy.
The house has a swimming pool and a renovated tennis court, as well as a rose garden, a koi pond and a lawn overlooking the Long Island Sound.
