Melania Trump launches farewell message: ‘It has been the greatest honor of my life’

The departure of the First Lady, Melania Trump, reflected on her four years at the White House during a farewell speech to the American people on Monday.

In a nearly seven-minute video message, Trump thanked the military, police, caregivers and others who had inspired her since she entered the White House in 2017. She highlighted her work, including her leadership role in the “Be A campaign Best “, which sought to address cyberbullying, opioid abuse and other challenges facing America’s children.

“It was the greatest honor of my life to serve as the first lady of the United States,” Trump said in the video message. “I was inspired by incredible Americans across our country, who elevate our communities through their kindness and courage, kindness and grace.”

The First Lady spoke at length about the coronavirus pandemic, thanking health professionals for their efforts to fight the deadly virus. She urged Americans to “use caution and common sense to protect the vulnerable, as millions of vaccines are being delivered”.

Trump also seemed to refer to the recent violence in Washington DC, where crowds of pro-Trump protesters stormed the Capitol on January 6 in response to President-elect Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election.

“Be passionate about everything you do, but always remember that violence is never the answer and will never be justified,” said Trump.

In a break with the longstanding tradition, the Trumps will not be present in Biden’s possession on Wednesday. The outgoing president and first lady usually attend the event to symbolize the peaceful transfer of power.

Changing trucks were spotted outside the Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, where the Trump family must reside when leaving the office.
