Everspace 2 launches in early access

The spaceship looter sniper Everspace 2 is taking off today for its scheduled mission through early access territory. For the sequel to its roguelike space flight game, Rockfish Games is transforming Everspace 2 into an open world RPG. The full game is scheduled for 2022, but you can enter the cabin right now if you are interested in seeing how it is going.

The original Everspace also went through early access, so this is a familiar flight plan for developers. Now that they are aiming for a bigger game with more complexity, Rockfish says he is once again looking forward to receiving feedback from fans as development continues in the sequence.

“The initial version is good for at least 25 hours of play, while introducing pilots to Everspace 2’s core game mechanics of space combat, exploration, mining, puzzle solving, travel, commerce, itemization, crafting, customization of ships, player and companion perks as well as five subclasses of ships from different players, ”they say.

Over its early access time, which Rockfish estimated at 12-18 months, Everspace 2 hopes to add new content in quarterly releases. These upgrades are planned to bring more of almost everything, it seems, from new star systems to new enemies, ship subclasses, enemies, jobs and factions.

Although it was a different style game, Brendan Caldwell (RPS in pieces) says in the RPS Everspace review that it was a “better than average dogfight simulator”. It was quite beautiful, too. The sequence seems to continue in that tradition, if nothing else.

You can find it on Steam Early Access and GOG Games In Development for £ 32 / $ 40 / € 38.
