Amazing Super Mario Art combines Bowser’s fury with the island of Yoshi

Earlier this week, Nintendo pulled the curtain in the second half of the Super Mario 3D World + Bowser Fury, and the new mode is definitely getting fans’ attention. Bowser’s Fury will see Mario and Bowser Jr. forced to work together to prevent a Kaiju-inspired metamorphosis that has taken over Bowser. Nintendo released an incredible work of art of the two characters looking at the (much bigger) villain, and a fan decided to take this image and remake it in the style of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi Island. While the original art of the Nintendo clash was already incredible, the capture of pixel art from @GBrothersStudio on Twitter can be even more impressive!

The art of @GBrothersStudio can be found embedded below.

Launched in 1995, Yoshi Island quickly became one of the most loved titles on the Super Nintendo. The game was very different from the original Super Mario World, but its beautiful art style made it one of Nintendo’s most distinctive-looking games of all time. Bowser Jr. was not introduced to the franchise until 2002 Super Mario Sunshine, but the character fits very well with the Yoshi’s island aesthetics, as @GBrothersStudio clearly demonstrates. Yoshi Island most had lighter spots, but the game included some darker spots, and @GBrothersStudio channels them well. It’s not the kind of mash-up that most Mario fans would expect, but everything looks great!

When it appears on the switch, Bowser Fury will be offered along with another Mario classic: Super Mario 3D World. Launched on Wii U in 2013, the game features an isometric perspective and levels that can be enjoyed with a single player or in a group of four. The game allows players to choose between Mario, Peach, Toad, Luigi and Rosalina, although last week’s trailer for Bowser’s Fury led to speculation that a sixth playable character could be added to the Nintendo Switch version of the game.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser Fury will be released exclusively for Nintendo Switch on February 12th. You can check out all of our previous coverage of the game here.
