Steve Martin told his fans on Sunday that he had good and bad news to share with them.
The 75-year-old actor took to Twitter say that he received the COVID-19 vaccine, writing: “Good news / bad news. Good news: I just got vaccinated! Bad news: I got it because I am 75 years old. Ha!”
“The operation in New York was silky smooth (sorry for the @BCDreyer cliché!) And perfectly hosted by the US Army and the National Guard,” he continued. “Thank you all and thank you science.”
A fan wrote back to Martin after he announced the news, asking, “How did you get the photo, where did you sign up. We couldn’t find a place for my 83-year-old mother-in-law who lives in New York. “
“I signed up ON line through a NYC dot gov website (sorry, I don’t have the exact website) and waited in line at the Javits Center,” he replied.
The actor shared a last tweet, responding to a tweet now excluded from a fan with his iconic humor, “At the moment, I am not having any fide resection.”
Earlier last week, Martha Stewart also had the vaccine, sharing a video on Monday night when she received the injection in the arm.
“I was vaccinated today in a designated vaccine capsule near the Martha Stewart Center for Living in Mount Sinai Downtown. I am very proud and grateful to the doctors, nurses and medical staff who are struggling with the bureaucracy and confusion in the distribution of these important vaccines, ”she wrote in the caption. “I am excited to have received my dosage and am looking forward to the reinforcement. Doctors told me that 10,000 applications were received by Mount Sinai shortly after the state released this batch of vaccines. “
The 79-year-old celebrity lifestyle guru continued, adding: “This is the advance of science and a heartfelt thanks to those who are working on vaccines. We are all waiting for the end of this pandemic ”.
Stewart proactively addressed concerns about how she got the vaccine, explaining that she is in the approved age group and waited in line with everyone else.
Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip also received their COVID-19 vaccines this month, as confirmed by a royal source at Buckingham Palace.
“The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh received the COVID-19 vaccines today,” said a palace statement. “A source confirms that they were administered by a home doctor at Windsor Castle.”
The statement continued to add that the news was made public to clarify things, saying: “To avoid inaccuracies and further speculation, His Majesty decided that he would warn that he was vaccinated”.
