The Louisiana Department of Health reported an additional 3,536 confirmed cases of coronavirus in its midday update on Sunday.
The number of hospitalizations decreased by 71 and the number of patients needing ventilators decreased by five.
There are also 42,879 “probable” cases of coronavirus in Louisiana, according to the agency’s panel.
These are other important statistics across the state of Sunday:
- Total confirmed cases: 326,101
- Total “probable” cases: 42,879
- Total confirmed deaths: 7,742 on Sunday
- Currently hospitalized: 1,930
- Currently on fans: 237
- Vaccine series started: 170,389 (updated twice a week)
- Vaccine series completed: 30,988
- Presumed recovered: 298,614 on January 11 (updated weekly)

Louisiana started reopening to Phase 1 on May 15 and May 16, then moved to Phase 2 on June 5. Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards extended Louisiana’s Phase 2 restrictions twice in August before moving the state to Phase 3 on September 11. the state back to a modified Phase 2 near the end of November.
