The 56 best free Prime films for members (January 2021)

It’s Saturday night, and if the NFL football playoff isn’t your thing, you’re probably looking for a movie to check out. This month, Amazon has a ton of new movies available for its Prime members to stream for free.

They are starting the new year with a ton of new offers, and we have 56 of our favorites listed below.

1. 28 DAYS LATER – This raw zombie masterpiece imagines an abandoned London and finds a cold horror in its emptiness.

2. CLEAR AND CURRENT DANGER – Harrison Ford has an iconic performance as Jack Ryan in this spy thriller.

3. ALMOST FAMOUS – Cameron Crowe’s ode to rock n ‘roll still pulls the heart strings in all the right ways.

4. SOCIETY OF DEAD POETS – This ode of the preparatory school to the power of poetry presents one of the greatest performances of all times by Robin Williams.

5. THE COMPANY – Tom Cruise is opposed (and runs a little!) In this adaptation of John Grisham’s legal thriller, which remains better than you expected.

6. LAST OF THE MOHICANS – Daniel Day Lewis stars in this 90s blockbuster over a Native American tribe.

7. LOST IN TRANSLATION – Sofia Coppola’s masterpiece stars Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson as two lost souls in Japan.

8. CHARLIE WILSON’S WAR – Tom Hanks and Philip Seymour Hoffman have fun in this dramatic comedy written by Aaron Sorkin.

9. MASTER AND COMMANDER – I love a film in the open sea. Forget the tents by the sea for a minute and enter real life.

10. ERIN BROCKOVICH – Julia Roberts stars as the legal advisor who fought hard for those no one else would fight for.

11. THE CITY – Ben Affleck directs this Boston shoot-em-up assault film, which has a twist on Jeremy Renner as his best friend.

12. LOCK STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRIES – Guy Ritchie’s revolutionary film is an English gangster romp with a great soundtrack of all time.

13. BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN – Ang Lee directs this film about forbidden love, starring Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhall.

14. THE TRUMAN SHOW – Jim Carrey dazzles in this commentary on the reality show, but Ed Harris steals the show as the demented Christof.

15. MAIN LEAGUE – One of the greatest sports comedies of all time and a must for any baseball fan. (Well, those who can handle a lot of bad words.)

16. BOURNE ULTIMATUM – Another perfect film from the Bourne franchise, starring Matt Damon.

17. CHINATOWN – Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway star in this noir masterpiece; one of the greatest films ever made.

18. DONNIE BRASCO – Al Pacino and Johnny Depp face off in this gangster movie.

19. FRIENDS WITH CHILDREN – A loaded cast gets laughs and moving moments too, in this story about a group of friends struggling with adulthood.

20. THE LIGHTHOUSE – Directly one of the wildest films I’ve ever seen. I don’t even know how to describe it. Get ready.

21. THE GOLDFINCH – This adaptation of the novel Donna Tartt has some beautiful settings.

22. THE PARTY – Awkwafina stars in this film about a family traveling home to say goodbye to a dying matriarch.

23. THE LOST CITY OF Z – Charlie Hunnam stars in this period piece that has lots of adventure and incredible scenery.

24. SUSPIRIA – A modern update of one of the most disturbing horror films ever made, this manages to be a little more palatable.

25. THE ROYAL TENBAUMS – Wes Anderson’s best film, with a loaded cast and enough emotional base for his style.

26. THE REPORT – Adam Driver plays a committed role in this film about a government investigation into war crimes.

29. THE VAST OF NIGHT – This ultra-low budget sci-fi film has a pure style and unexpectedly wonderful dialogues.

30. RAMBO: LAST BLOOD – This is not Shakespeare, but if you want to watch Sly Stallone blow things up, he has plenty.

31. TROOP ZERO – Allison Janney stars in this charming comedy about an unbalanced Scout troop.

32. IMPOSSIBLE MISSION: GHOST PROTOCOL – Another perfect entry into one of the best action movie series ever made.

33. SUPER SIZE ME – This documentary fundamentally changed the way America consumed food.

34. MY SPY – A surprisingly charming and witty action comedy with Dave Bautista.

35. GENERATION WEALTH – One of the most grotesque documentaries you have ever seen, about a country obsessed with wealth.

36. THE HUSTLE – This update on Steve Martin’s classic DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS features Rebel Wilson and Anne Hathaway having fun as swindlers.

37. LOGAN LUCKY – A perfect assault film, with Channing Tatum, Adam Driver and Daniel Craig having so much fun that you have a feeling he would have made the film for free.

38. LIGHT OF MY LIFE – A chilling post-apocalyptic film starring Casey Affleck.

39. LATE NIGHT – A peculiar comedy about a presenter who struggles to regain her rhythm and connect with an ancient audience.

40. LAST FLAG FLAG – Three veteran friends from Vietnam take a trip to put one of their children to rest.

41. KNIVES OUT – Perhaps my favorite policeman of the last decade, directed by Rian Johnson and again with Daniel Craig stealing all the scenes he is in.

42. I AM NOT YOUR BLACK – This documentary about James Baldwin avoids talking heads for the most part and allows man to tell his own story.

43. APOCALYPTO – Mel Gibson directs this action thriller in the final days of a dying empire.

44. MID90S – Jonah Hill drives this ode to growth like a punk skater. The soundtrack is perfect and the performances find depth.

45. GIRL’S TATTOO WITH THE DRAGON – The Swedish version may not have the style of David Fincher’s film adaptation, but it features an innovative performance by Noomi Rapace.

46. ​​CLUE – One of the funniest and most quotable films ever made, with Tim Curry in an iconic role.

47. CASINO ROYALE – The film that relaunched the Bond franchise and made Daniel Craig a star.

48. MANCHESTER BY THE SEA – This film will leave you in a puddle of tears. It is brilliant and moving and will destroy you.

49. BRITTANY RUNS A MARATHON – A charming comedy about a young woman who seems unable to organize her life until she starts running.

50. HOTEL ARTEMIS – This film is very much based on the universe of JOHN WICK, but it is an incredible thing to borrow!

51. ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ – Clint Eastwood winces during this classic escape movie.

52. FIGHT WITH MY FAMILY – A surprisingly wonderful and funny look at the world of professional wrestling, through the eyes of an English family.

52. IMPOSSIBLE MISSION: FALLOUT – Unmissable series. They are all incredible.

53. 7500 – Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as the pilot of a plane taken over by hijackers in this thriller.

54. THE BIG SICK – A perfect little romantic comedy that takes place almost entirely within a hospital. Who knew?

55. HONEY BOY – Shia LaBeouf gives an incredible performance like, more or less, her father, in this partially autobiographical film.

56. A SIMPLE FAVOR – This hilarious thriller has an absurd plot, but director Paul Feig and stars Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick seem to understand how absurd it is and have a lot of fun with it.
