After seven years in development, The Frontier mod for Fallout: New Vegas is complete, reports PCGamesN.
While most mods seek to add pieces of new territory, new weapons or new armor, The Frontier has evolved into what is essentially an entirely new Fallout title. It tries to fit into the Fallout canon and occurs almost at the same time as the Fallout: New Vegas DLC. However, the territory the messenger visits is a long way from the sands of Mojave. This mod has players traveling to snowy Portland, Oregon. The development team purposely chose this location to contrast the environments seen in Fallout so far, so even experienced New Vegas veterans must find it a new experience.
The interaction between the factions is a big part of Fallout: New Vegas and The Frontier continues this tradition. The Legion and the NCR are facing off, just like in the base game. However, a new group, the Crusaders, also came on the scene. The Crusaders are a violent branch of the Brotherhood of Steel, seeking revenge for those who wronged their leader.
Each of these factions can be joined and has a complete campaign to play. Mod creators estimate that the three main stories will take more than 60 hours to complete.
Of course, The Frontier brings a ton of new weapons, armor and items with him. But the killer feature of this mod is that it has a complex steering system. That’s right, instead of letting all those cars, trucks and other vehicles stop and rust, players can sit behind the wheel. This includes even Vertibirds.
Fallout: The Frontier is now available on NexusMods and requires Fallout: New Vegas and its four DLC packs to play. Players are recommended to start a new saved file in the base game and play until they reach level 11. After that, an NCR representative appears; then it goes to Portland.
