Lamar Jackson, Ravens will explore great extension in the off-season

Lamar Jackson won his first playoff victory a week ago. He’s going to his second Saturday night against the Bills.

He could sign his second contract in the coming months.

The Ravens are open to a great extent for their star quarterback and both sides are expected to explore this option in the spring or early summer, reported NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. First, the team will choose the fifth year option in its rookie contract.

Jackson, you must remember, is without an agent and still represents himself, which could provide an interesting wrinkle to the negotiations. He would be dealing with an organization that was always open to initial deals if it benefited both sides, Rapoport noted.

The third-year QB far surpassed the one he was hired after Baltimore selected him with the 32nd overall choice of the 2018 draft. After unleashing the team’s turnaround and playoff in his first season, he won MVP honors. in 2019. His campaign in 2020 was not so statistically spectacular, but he still managed to break 1,000 yards by running for the second consecutive year, an NFL record, and get the Ravens back into the playoffs.

They face Buffalo at 8:15 pm ET.
