Republican MP Lauren Boebert and her husband have accumulated prisons

Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, the Republican congresswoman from Colorado with an armed hand who competed with the law and order platform, had several fights with the police, beginning in her teens.

The 34-year-old lawmaker, who defeated the very conservative Rep. Scott Tipton in a primary turnaround last June, has an exceptionally long criminal record for a member of Congress.

And her history of making fun of the law continued this week after she fought with Capitol police over her refusal to walk through the House’s newly installed metal detectors.

“I am legally authorized to carry my firearm in Washington, DC, and within the Capitol complex,” shand tweeted defiantly, calling the detectors “another political maneuver by Mayor Pelosi”.

Although the lawmaker has finally been granted permission to enter the House chambers, she faces growing questions about her role in assisting the deadly Capitol rebellion on January 6. A few hours before the violence, she tweeted, “Today is 1776.” In the days leading up to the unrest, Boebert made a show of his intention to remain armed on Capitol Hill, receiving another rebuke from local authorities.

In June 2015, Boebert was handcuffed for disorderly conduct at a country music festival near Grand Junction, Colorado, after police said she tried to interfere in the arrest of imprisoned minors for drinking minors and encouraged the accused to flee. Boebert said that partygoers did not read their Miranda Rights and that the arrest was illegal.

“Lauren continued to scream and make the younger drinkers unruly,” said a police officer who arrested him in a statement at the time. “Lauren said several times that she had friends on Fox News and that the illegal arrest would be national news.” At the time, Boebert ran the Shooters Grill in Rifle, Colorado. The story was first reported by Colorado Newsline.

Boebert subsequently lost two court appearances and was arrested again in December 2015. The charge was dismissed.

A year later, in September 2016, Boebert was accused of driving carelessly and operating an unsafe vehicle after running over his truck in a ditch, police said. When she did not appear in court a month later, an arrest warrant was issued. She was sued on February 13, 2017. She ended up pleading guilty to the unsafe vehicle charge and paid $ 123.50 in fines and court fees. The charge of careless driving was dismissed. The incident was first revealed by the Colorado Times Recorder.

“It is certainly worrying that on some occasions she apparently did not appear in court,” Tom Silverman, a Democrat and former president of the Colorado Municipal Judges Association, told the Post. “I was disappointed when she was elected.”

Colin Wilhelm, a Colorado defense lawyer and Democrat who plans to challenge Boebert in 2022, agreed: “It is worrying when you claim to be a member of ‘back the blue’ and it is still so anti-authority when they are trying to do their job . “

In September 2010, Boebert was arrested after a neighbor, Michele Soet, accused Boebert’s two pit bulls of attacking Soet’s dog. Soet’s dog narrowly escaped an injury after jumping into a van. The future lawmaker pleaded guilty to a single charge of “loose dog”, paying a $ 75 fine.

Boebert’s future husband, Jayson, also had problems with the police. In January 2004, he was arrested after allegedly exposing his penis to two women on a bowling alley, according to an arrest statement. Lauren Boebert (then 17 and known as Lauren Opal Roberts) was also there. Jayson Boebert pleaded guilty to public indecency and obscene exposure, earning four days in prison and two years on probation.

In February 2004, he was charged with domestic violence against Lauren Boebert. He “struck, shoved or kicked illegally … and subjected her to physical contact,” a spokesman for the Garfield County Court clerk told the Post. They were dating at the time.

Jayson Boebert ended up serving seven days in prison. The seizures were first discovered by Colorado blogger Anne Landman.

Lauren Boebert took revenge in May 2004, during a fight with Jayson at her home, in which she scratched her face and chest and destroyed her residence, according to a police report. She was slapped with third-degree assault, criminal malice and accusations of underage drinking. A Garfield County Combined Court representative said he could not reveal any information about the final decision in the case.

The Boeberts were married in 2005 and have four children.

Jayson Boebert did not respond to a request for comment from The Post. In a statement, Deputy Boebert’s chief of staff, Jeff Small, called the prisons “a retreading of a failed Democratic personal attack in the last campaign.”

“Attacking her family, trying to criminalize a $ 100 traffic ticket or a closed case, and defaming ordinary business transactions is exactly what people hate about politics.” he said.
