City officials reportedly received subpoenas from the grand jury seeking information about any conversations or correspondence they had with the Trump Organization about their development plans.
Roland Baroni, a lawyer for the city of North Castle, NY, told CNN that the city had received and fulfilled a subpoena “asking for files from the planning board, any correspondence, any e-mail” exchanged between the city and the Trump Organization.
North Castle is one of three counties covered by the large family complex.
CNBC reported Friday, a lawyer in Bedford, NY, said he had also received a subpoena from Vance’s office sometime “before Christmas” for information and records related to the estate.
Third city supervisor New Castle declined CNBC’s request for comment.
People familiar with the investigation told CNN that the Trump Organization had also been summoned to obtain information about the property, including tax deductions the company made after donating part of the land to a public conservation fund.
The Hill contacted the Trump Organization for comment.
According to CNN, the Trump business has sought to develop the property several times, including plans to potentially build a golf course or a community of residences.
When making a donation of land for conservation, a property may suffer an income tax deduction based on the value of the property. Vance’s investigation is investigating whether the property’s value has been inflated to obtain a more beneficial tax deduction.
The lawsuits indicated that 158 acres of Westchester County property were donated to the North American Land Trust with an estimated value of $ 21.1 million.
The property, which the Trump Organization bought in 1995 for $ 7.5 million, is also part of a civil investigation conducted by the New York attorney general. Letitia James (D) about whether the company lied about the value of certain assets in order to receive more beneficial loans and tax benefits.
