Ralph Macchio is not about to change his hockey loyalty to his beloved New York Islanders. But when he saw Washington Capitals’ new coach, Peter Laviolette, honor the show with some bandanas in the post-game locker room after a victory, Macchio shouted at the coach.
Macchio, of course, is Daniel LaRusso in the hit karate Kid movie series and its Netflix spin-off, Cobra Kai.
“As a big hockey fan, this is amazing! Well done, coach, ”wrote Macchio in a tweet. “Hoping for a successful and fun NHL season this year for everyone! Although my loyalty has not wavered. Come on, islanders! “
When borrowing from Cobra KaiLaviolette paid tribute to Capitals right wing TJ Oshie and gave him the first headband in his post-game conversation after his first win behind the Washington bench. Laviolette gave Brenden Dillon a second headband for showing resistance.
Laviolette’s next job is to convince Macchio to board the Capitals train.
As a big hockey fan, this is amazing! Very well, coach.
