Hollywood stars headline 5-day inaugural Biden events to celebrate ‘America United’

The festivities surrounding Joe Biden’s inauguration are scheduled to officially begin on Saturday, with a concert celebrating “diversity”, followed by another four days filled with Hollywood anti-Trump celebrities, including Eva Longoria, Kerry Washington, John Legend, Kal Penn and Debra Messing.

The theme chosen by Biden for its inauguration is “America United”, although the list of artistic talents, which includes Lady Gaga singing the national anthem, represents some of Hollywood’s most leftist voices. Many of the events will be virtual according to the COVID-19 security protocols.

On Saturday, the celebration will officially begin with “America United: An Inauguration Welcome Event Celebrating America’s Changemakers”. The inauguration committee said the concert “will celebrate America, reflect and honor our history and highlight the nation’s incredible diversity”. It will feature the participation of anti-Trump celebrities Whoopi Goldberg from Netflix Atypical actor Nik Dodani, actress Cristela Alonzo and actor Darren Criss.

Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) and Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms (D) will also participate.

The Resistance Revival Choir is set to perform during the concert. As its name suggests, the ensemble, which consists of female and gender “non-binary” singers, was founded in opposition to President Trump. The Grammy nominated Black Pumas band will also be performing.

Other shows leading up to the opening day include “United We Serve”, which will honor National Service Day on January 18, and will feature Diane Warren, Lynn Whitfield and Bebe Winans; and a national memorial event with the theme COVID-19 on January 19.

Eva Longoria and Kerry Washington will host the Inauguration Day broadcast, while Bruce Springsteen, Foo Fighters and John Legend will also appear. At the end of the day, Tom Hanks will present a primetime broadcast entitled “Celebrating America”, which will be broadcast on the three main broadcast networks and cable channels, including CNN and MSNBC.

As reported by Breitbart News, Debra Messing will co-host a pre-opening fundraising event on Sunday with actor Keegan-Michael Key. It will feature performances by Carole King, Will.I.AM, James Taylor, Fall Out Boy, Michael Bivins, Ben Harper and AJR.

Messing promoted physical violence against President Donald Trump, saying in a tweet that he expects the president to be raped in prison. Twitter did not penalize the Hollywood actress, who comments appears to violate the platform’s terms of service.

Another opening fundraiser scheduled for Friday will feature cast members from the TV series The West Wing, Scandal, and Designated survivor. Obama actor and former employee Kal Penn will host the event.
