Cyberpunk 2077 is for some a mess full of errors and, for others, completely impossible to play. The developer CD Projekt Red has already promised fixes and a next-generation console update, but it has now revealed exactly when we should expect them to arrive.
CD Projekt Red co-founder Marcin Iwiński released a video outlining what fans can expect from Cyberpunk 2077 throughout 2021, in addition to apologizing for the poor performance on PS4 and Xbox One consoles.
The game has already received several hotfixes to solve the most urgent problems, but Iwiński promises that it will not stop there. Several patches, large and small, are in development, with the first landing in just 10 days. A bigger and more significant update will follow soon.
Corrections also mean delays in the original CDPR plan for Free DLC. The developer initially had plans to start releasing it right after launch – as was the case with Witcher 3. Instead, fixes take precedence, and the free DLC is in the background for now. Iwiński promised that more information will be available “in the coming months”.
As for PS5 and Xbox Series X players, their next generation update will arrive in the second half of the year. Although we have never learned exactly when Cyberpunk 2077 would have its next generation release suitable, it wouldn’t be a surprise if it was also postponed after the game’s disastrous release.
We already know that there is a multiplayer mode in development as well, but since CDPR kept the details under wraps, there is not much we can say about it. That said, dataminers have discovered some multiplayer code, featuring at least two different game modes (Heist and Deathmatch) plus the possibility of P2P connections instead of routing everything through a dedicated multiplayer server.
Although we do not have some details, it is clear that Cyberpunk 2077 still has a long way to go this year. We expect the game’s performance and bugs to be fixed sooner or later.
