Galaxy Buds Pro: Samsung’s new headphones are great

Samsung is not a novelty in the game of truly wireless headsets, but I haven’t been satisfied with any of the company’s releases so far. Each seemed to have a glaring flaw. That is, until I tried the Galaxy Buds Pro. Last week, I was impressed by Samsung’s first-rate offering. Here are some tips before our full review.

Galaxy Buds Pro launches today for $ 199, a high price compared to Samsung’s very affordable line. Given the high price and the limited amount of time we actually had a chance to spend with these friends, our full review will come next week, but we have three main points to talk about if you are interested in getting these today.

An almost perfect case

Truly wireless headphones have many priorities to deal with, but cases are at the top of my list. Fortunately, Buds Pro got it right. The case has the same shape as the one that comes with the Galaxy Beans Buds Live, but it is marginally thinner and smaller in its footprint. The Buds Live cover was already one of my favorites, so reducing it just gives Samsung more points in my book.

The case also has a beautiful matte finish that doesn’t collect fingerprints and oils constantly, but still slides out of your pocket with ease. The lid also closes with a super satisfying “sound”, thanks to some strong magnets. Click on the video below to listen.

Much better ANC

Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Live definitely has its place, but Active Noise Canceling (ANC) in that product was an absolute joke. Did nothing. Fortunately, Buds Pro couldn’t be more different.

Thanks to the oval-shaped ear tips, I found that Galaxy Buds Pro already has a very good seal on my ear and passively blocks a lot of noise, but when the ANC is turned on, it is very effective. It’s not perfect, I can certainly still hear some noise, but almost all the background noise disappears quickly. Samsung did a very good job here.

Sound quality gains momentum

Finally, let’s touch on the sound quality. I’ve only used Buds Pro while connected to my Galaxy Z Fold 2 so far, where Samsung’s buttons usually sound better. That said, the sound quality has been excellent. Unlike Buds + and Buds Live, I didn’t have to switch to the “dynamic” equalizer profile just to get decent sound quality. Now, each preset sounds great to my ears with an amazing amount of bass playing. I wasn’t sure if Samsung’s “2-way speaker” setup would really make a difference, but it really looks like it does. I was very impressed with the sound quality, with Buds Pro even rivaling the Jabra Elite 85ts that was so ahead of everything in my rotation.
