The days of Houston Texans’ executive vice president of football operations, Jack Easterby, at the organization may be numbered, according to Peter King of NBC Sports.
“I think they will get rid of him,” said King at Dale & Keefe on Thursday.
This comes amid months of pressure from fans and the media for Houston to do just that.

Easterby, the former New England Patriots coach, ” quickly rose through the ranks in an unorthodox manner due to his lack of experience in football.
With that leading to an unflattering Sports Illustrated exposure of Easterby’s time in Houston, there have been a growing number of questions surrounding the level of power he seems to have received from Texans owner and CEO Cal McNair.
Deshaun Watson is concerned about the direction of the front office involved in Easterby. Combine that with legendary Texans receiver Andre Johnson going out against Easterby on Twitter earlier this week, with several current and former players supporting his position, and it’s no surprise to hear speculation about Easterby’s possible departure from the team.
“I think it was a really interesting sign – I don’t even know how many people know that – that Jack Easterby was basically warned not to speak to Sports Illustrated when that damn report came out,” said King.

“So when that happens, my feeling is – and again, it’s probably overkill – but when I heard that, I remembered Scott Pioli in Kansas City when I was really being tainted by Todd Haley, the former coach there . They didn’t want him to speak. Well, what happens next? Not long after that, I forgot how long, but Pioli was gone. “
It is worth noting, however, that at no time did King say this opinion was based on sources.
“I think it’s a matter of time before Jack Easterby leaves,” said King. “As to why it hasn’t happened yet, I don’t know the answer.”
